Oh, lord. Just help me get though this. I really struggled to find the words for this review. Okay. First off, I love the manga of The Way of the Househusband. Hell, I loved the live-action version. And you all know how hard it is to get a decent live-action remake of a popular anime. That being said, I had so many questions about Netflix's adaptation of this masterpiece. But mostly, my main question was WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT ANIMATION?! This show was the most mimimalist anime I've ever seen. It's so indescribable, you have to see it for yourself. I've seen bad animation before, and while this wasn't THAT bad, it left me scratching my head. I was really looking forward to seeing Tatsu, the ex-yakuza and titular househusband in animated action. And while there were funny moments, and it had its "so bad, it's good" quality, it just wasn't enough for me. It just seems... flat. I mean, we really don't get much interaction between Tatsu and his wife. Or really anyone else for that matter within the six episodes that were released. I mean, what was the point? *sigh* Is the show funny? Yes. Best of the spring anime season? Not really. I have to give The Way of the Househusband anime a 3/5. So much hype, but nothing much else. Hopefully we'll get more in Part 2.
